A Deep Dive Into the Colorado River Basin

June 2, 2021

After more than a year of staying close to home, it was terrific to get back to photographing in the Southwest. I’ve been traveling around Arizona and neighboring Nevada, as well as bits of California and Utah. While I was there, Lake Mead dropped to its lowest level on record, which seemed poetic, as I had just been photographing it the day before. I was able to spend some time in the air over Lake Mead, Lake Powell, Lake Mohave, the Grand Canyon, and the Verde River, thanks to the generous support of LightHawk. I also photographed the lower Colorado River and Phoenix suburbs with the help of my Mavic drone; and even made some photos on the ground to boot. It was an extremely productive trip.
